General Info

Traveling By Air

Connecting flights from any of the major airlines will bring you to the Wabush Airport in Labrador from virtually anywhere in the world, and can be arranged through your local travel agent. The majority of our guests make a connecting flight in Montreal via Air Canada. If traveling by road, Route 389 will bring you from Baie Comeau-Quebec into Labrador West. This partly paved road is 581km, and will take you over the Manic Five Dam; the largest arch and buttress dam in the world.

Weather

Labrador summers are short and generally cooler, but extreme high temperatures are not uncommon. Summer temperatures range from 10 – 25 degrees Celsius (50 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit), and tend to be much colder than that of the island portion. Winter temperatures range from -10 to -30 degrees Celsius (14 to -22 degrees Fahrenheit).

Baggage Allowance

Each guest is allowed a baggage weight of 45lb for the floatplane. Excess baggage may well mean being without some items until alternate flights are organized with additional costs. Deposits

A 30% non-refundable deposit is required on all packages. Deposit must be received no later than 2 weeks after your booking.

Sales Tax

A harmonized sales tax of 13% is applicable on all packages and license. U.S residents may apply for a partial rebate of the tax. using the refund application forms that will be provided.

European travelers will travel to Labrador City by first flying to Montreal, Canada via one of the major European International airports such as Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, London, Paris, Wein, Zurich, or Amsterdam.

The overseas portion of the flight to Montreal is approximately 6 1/2 hours. Flights from Europe usually arrive in the evening at Montreal, which means that travelers will have to overnight in Montreal before taking the flight to Wabush Airport (Labrador City) early the next morning. A Northern Lights Lodge representative will be awaiting your arrival in Montreal to welcome you to Canada. Our representative will assist with baggage and also provide transportation to and from the hotel, as well as assisting with airline check the next morning for the flight to Labrador. We recommend that clients have a carry on bag with their necessities required for the Hotel. All other baggage can be left at the Montreal Airport secure baggage locker. The flying time from Montreal to Wabush Airport (Labrador City) is approximately 3 ½ hours. Upon arrival at the Wabush Airport (Labrador City) a Northern Lights Lodge representative will be there to welcome you.

Charter flights are available from Montreal to Wabush (Labrador City) for a minimum of 12 people per group.

Travel Itinerary

Day 1
Flight From Europe to Montreal, Canada (Overnight at Hotel in Montreal) (Approximately 7-hour flight) Northern Lights Lodge representative assistance.

Day 2
Flight From Montreal to Wabush Airport (Labrador City) (Approximately 3 ½ hour flight) arrival at 12:00 noon.
